Introduction

He has been the New York defense attorney or advocate for professionals such as business executives, doctors, and lawyers. Mr. Orden has made thousands of court appearances in Federal and State courts throughout New York, and New Jersey and was trained in the high volume, urban courts of New York. He has tried cases with very poor prospects of success and obtained “not guilty” verdicts, or monetary judgments for his clients.  He has successfully negotiated complete dismissals of serious cases and other resolutions which protect his clients’ liberty and dignity.

Education

Stewart Orden is a graduate of the Clark University and Brooklyn Law School. Admitted to practice in New York in 1980, the majority of his legal career has focused on defending people accused of wrongdoing in civil, educational and criminal settings. For his career as a private lawyer, Mr. Orden held the AV rating, the highest rating a lawyer can obtain from Martindale-Hubbell as well as the special recognition of pre-eminence as a civil and criminal litigator.

Career

Mr. Orden began his career as a staff attorney at Kings County District Attorney’s Office where he successfully prosecuted hundreds of adults in the homicide bureau. Mr. Orden then formed a law partnership specializing in Federal Criminal Defense until 1991 where he formed his present law firm handling complex disputes involving serious criminal charges, civil rights violations, personal injury cases and charges of serious misconduct against students.

Legal Experience

Mr. Orden has successfully represented thousands of individuals and has tried nearly one hundred and fifty jury trials involving serious white collar charges, crimes of violence, property damage cases, defamation, civil rights and litigated educational matters. He has represented clients in courts as far away as New Mexico. Mr. Orden’s practice includes enormous settlements in discrimination lawsuits, accident cases, defense of companies under investigation by Antitrust Division of Justice Department, companies and individuals under federal investigation by various U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, and SEC as well as defense of State crimes. He has gained settlements for civil clients including personal injury, slip and fall victims and car accident victims

Mr. Orden has been called to testify in federal courts in Florida and New York as an expert witness in the trial effectiveness of other attorneys.

Seminars and Speaking Engagements

Mr. Orden has been an instructor and guest lecturer at Benjamin Cardozo School of Law since 1983 teaching trial advocacy as well as presenting a nationwide audience of lawyers with demonstrations in trial techniques.

Mr. Orden is admitted to practice in New York ;the Federal District Courts of the Southern, Eastern, Western, Northern Districts of New York; the United States Supreme Court; Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the New York Council of Criminal Defense Lawyers, (by invitation only), the New York Sate Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the New York City Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and The Association of the Bar for the City of New York.
